Obama Drops The Hammer

This video is more than a fresh face hammering Hillary for sprouting clichéd nonsense to the drones — it shows that Omama gets how to make an ad for the Internet!

The video is only on the Internet.  After all is a 1:14, so it does not fit into the TV model.

Taking a commercial that is a cultural icon and repurposing it to spread his own message. Very smart. Distributing it on the Internet, also smart. This shows us that Obama or someone on his team gets it. Using media in a savy way to connect with the culture. Yoo hoo Democratic hopefuls wake up, Obama has just lapped ya. He didn’t worry about burning a bunch or DVDs to spread around an obviously edited speech.  He made a slick ad aimed at the media aware and is letting it spread virally. huzzah!

At the same time Obama’s team will need attack audio and in-depth new media pieces as well. Plus old media, especially among the people who vote in primaries and caucuses, must still be executed well to win.

Afterall, a wealth of ways to get information has caused a proverty of attention for any particular one.

Zune Time

Here is a little interview I did for my pals at Gear Live with an internal Microsoft Zune beta tester, Aaron Coldiron, at the Podcast and Portable Media Expo. It was great to see Microsoft getting out into the community with the Podcaster/Blogger Lounge at the Expo. Aaron, you and your crew did a great job and were a valuable resource with the Wifi, drinks, bean bag stools and the podcasting studio.

I’m waiting for the day UPS brings my Zune.
