Plazes Acquired By Nokia

First of all congrats to Felix Petersen and Stefan Kellner in Berlin! Plazes has been a work of love for the both them since 2005.

Geo location services with cell phones are going to be a hot and will have some new legal and social effects in the coming years.

The one thing I do wonder is does this mean the Plazes new iPhone application is dead.  It was going to use GPS and cell triangulation (A-GPS) services of the upcoming iPhone to show and share your location. Below is a video demo.

Livestation, Silverlight’s First Killer App?

Livestation, a service which will challenge the Slingbox in streaming your TV to a remote computer.

By using the Microsoft’s Flash-like Silverlight plugin will allow any computer to display TV either in a stand-alone window or in a web browser. Thereby allowing Windows users, soon the Mac and potentially even Windows Mobile cell phones to have TV on the go.

It is in private beta right now and should hit the market in October of this year.

Jackson Fish Market

Well the Charlie O. Finley of software, AKA Hillel Cooperman, landed a whale with having Walter Smith become a partner at Jackson Fish Market. Ok no fish jokes, but since it is opening week, I will continue with the baseball references. Jenny Lam, formerly the Windows User Experience creative director, has also left the big M to join the bullpen at Jackson. Go here to watch a great video of her being interviewed by Scoble.

Walter’s style in dev and soft skills will be a good foil to Hillel’s. I must admit I am sure it was fun to see the two of them at TED.

But this is my big question. Does this mean the Jackson Fish Market will host an updated Newton Museum online ?

Best of luck to you kids and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
